The Misty Morn - Loving Shepherd - St Stephen'sAll is peaceful.
All is calm.
The earth is still in slumber.
Not a breath of wind
Disturbs the silence.
Enclosed in this bay,
The heavy mist protects us from “out there”.
Silence.
Pure.
Sweet.

Soon the world will awaken –
Voices pierce the solitude
Some sweet – some rude.
Footsteps crunch the stones
As sleepy souls sojourn to the washroom
For their morning rituals.
In the distance, birds greet the morn –
Delightful music to my ears.

But for now…
….But for now…
“The peace which passeth all understanding”,
The Love,
The Comfort,
The Indescribable –
Time alone with my Lord.

(This poem, penned while camping at Pedder Bay Marina, was inspired after a howling windstorm the night before to awaken at 5:00 a.m. in the encompassing stillness of a heavy mist.)
