Camp Columbia

camp-columbiaSituated on beautiful Thetis Island, Camp Columbia is a large waterfront property of natural beauty, overlooking the Stuart Channel and the Vancouver Island Mountain Range.

It is readily accessible by ferry from Chemainus.

The Camp is owned and operated by the Diocese of British Columbia of the Anglican Church of Canada.

Camp Columbia Mission Statement:

“To seed and nurture a relationship with Jesus Christ through programs, retreats and training for children, youth and adults in a welcoming camp environment.”

Vision Statement:

“To be an effective year round ministry of the Anglican Church, and to provide a camp environment that meets the changing needs of the wider public in our communities.”

Our first priority is a continuing commitment to excellence in Christian summer programming for children. Camp Columbia also serves as a resource for the Anglican Diocese and the wider community offering retreat, conference and training facilities.

The Camp will retain its unique character by preserving and enhancing its key assets:

  • Heneage Lodge – the main lodge which creates a wonderful home atmosphere;
  • St. Columba House – the retreat home situated seconds from the beach;
  • our carefully stewarded natural environment and forests; and
  • comfortable summer camp accommodations with first class programs.

Our magnificent waterfront is a central location of fun for summer programming activities.

Summer camps for children are rooted in the solid biblical foundations and application of Biblical faith in a fun, open, and engaging environment. Camp Columbia will continue to welcome all, providing a safe and encouraging environment for campers. All of our leaders are carefully screened and trained prior to all summer programs. We provide facilities and equipment, quality food services and Christian teachings sensitive to all needs.

The facilities of the Camp are available for Diocesan programs, parish groups, other Christian groups and agencies and non-church related groups and agencies. Every effort will be made to extend hospitality to all in the name of Christ. Some assistance with programming will be available to groups seeking Christian nurture. The Camp Manager and Management Team seek to continually improve all programs and facilties annually and are always encouraged by the participation of different kinds of groups.
