Good Friday Inspired
The Cross He carried
Had bruised and battered
His frail, thin body~
This cruel and bloody,
Bleak day that mattered.
No kindness offered
So much He suffered
As a sacrifice~
His sweet love suffice;
Our souls now buffered.
This full redemption,
Faithful consecration
And glorious rise;
As Christ paid the price.
The nails they pounded,
The Cross resounded,
God’s curtain lifted;
We all were gifted
As trumpets sounded~
Our faith was founded,
Holy surrounded
By this blessed day~
Shining through decay
Joy abounded~
